7 Important Shia Pilgrimage Places in Najaf, Iraq

Najaf is an important city in Iraq, located approximately 160km from Baghdad and is also one of the pilgrimage cities of Muslims, especially Shia, because it is the burial place of Imam Ali. I was so excited to visit the Ziarat Hazrat Ali shrine or rauza. I visited Najaf late at night and went to the Ziarat to the Imam Ali shrine or rauza the next morning with my family members and group members.

I felt cool and relaxed in the Najaf haram with spiritual energy and tension-free. I lived in Najaf for 3 days, so I regularly visited the Imam Ali shrine in Najaf and performed prayer and Ziarat to Imam Ali. I also attended the majlis in Najaf Haram with my group and family members. I also visited the Kufa Mosque and performed the Aamaal or Prayer (Namaz) of 102 rakats. I performed all Aamaal (Namaz) for a continuous 4 hours from midnight to morning. After performing namaz, I clicked memorable photos with my family members.

On the same day, I visited Al-Sahlah Masjid with my group and family members in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq. I performed prayer (namaz) and the ziarat in this masjid. I also took memorable photos with my family members. I also visited Kumail Masjid in the evening and performed Zohar and Asar prayer (namaz), with my family members. I also visited Al-Hannana Mosque in Najaf and performed prayer (Namaz) and Ziarat on the same day. I took memorable photos in Kumail Masjid and Al-Hannana Masjid with my family members. The next morning, I visited the largest cemetery (kabrastan), Wadi Al-Salaam, worldwide in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.

Pilgrim Places in Najaf – There are several pilgrim places in the city of Najaf in Iraq, which are given below –

  1. Imam Ali Shrine – It is one of the most important pilgrimage places in the city of Najaf, Iraq for Shia devotees as it contains the tomb of Imam Ali. In this holy place, there are the graves of Prophet Nuh (Noah) and Prophet Adam. I visited and ziarat of Imam Ali shrine with my family in Najaf, Iraq. I also performed a special prayer (namaz) and Ziarat at Imam Ali Shrine with my family members in Najaf, Iraq. I also attended majlis and matam at Imam Ali Shrine with my family members in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq. I also visited and offerred a special prayer (namaz) and ziarat od Prophet Nuh (Noah) and Prophet Adam in this holy place.
  2. Kufa Mosque – It is also one of the important holy places or mosques in the city of Najaf, Iraq. This holy place contains the prayer (namaz) place (Mehrab) where Imam Ali was martyred (shaheed) with several tombs of his companions.  I also visited Kufa Masjid and performed Aamaal or Prayer (Namaz) for 102 rakats. I performed Aamaal (Namaz) for 4 hours from midnight to morning. After Namaz, I clicked memorable photos with my family members.
  3. Maytham AlTammar Shrine – It is also an important pilgrim Shia place, which is situated in the city of Kufa, Iraq. This pilgrimage place is dedicated to Maytham ibn Yahya al-Tammar,  who was a reliable friend of Imam Ali, who was martyred (shaheed) in the year 680 A.D.  I also visited and the ziarat of Maytham or Meesam Al-Tammar Shrine, which is situated to the west of the Kufa Masjid. I also performed a special prayer (namaz) at Maytham Al-Tammar shrine in Kufa Masjid in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.
  4. Al-Sahlah Mosque –  It is also one of the important mosques and holy places, which is related to the Imam al-Mahdi, the 12th Imam. It is located in the city of Kufa, which is around 10 km from the city of Najaf in Iraq. As per Islamic Belief. Al-Sahlah Mosque will be the future home of Imam al-Mahdi. The shrines of Prophet Idris, Prophet Khidr, and Prophet Abrham are in this mosque. I visited Al-Sahlah Mosque with my group and family members in Najaf, Iraq. I performed prayer (Namaz) and ziarat in this masjid with my family members. I also took memorable photos with my family members.
  5. AlHannana Mosque –  it is also one of the important Shia Mosques, which is situated between Najaf and Kufa in Iraq. It is believed that the head of Imam Hussain (A.S.) was temporarily on the ground of this mosque after the battle of Karbala while being transported to Kufa. I also visited Al-Hannana Mosque with my family members. I also performed a special prayer (namaz) in this masjid with my family members in Najaf, Iraq.
  6. Kumail Bin Ziad Mosque – It is also an important mosque for Shia pilgrims, which is located in the Al-Hanana area and is around 100 meters from the main route between Najaf and Kufa in Iraq. It is  believed that Kumail ibn Zuyad was a faithful and reliable friend  of Imam Ali and is known for Dua Kumayl (Supplication of Kumayl), which was taught by Imam Ali. I also visited Kumail Masjid in the evening and performed Zohar and Asar prayer (Namaz), and also ziarat. I also performed a special prayer (namaz) and ziarat of Makame Kumail Bin Ziad in this mosque in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.
  7. Wadi Al-Salaam Cemetery – It is the largest cemetery or graveyard (kabrastan) in the world, which is situated  in the religious city of Najaf in Iraq. The area of this cemetery is around 1485 to 1500 acres, which contains about 5 to 6 million graves and has been in continuous use for around 1400 years. Several important graves of many prophets, including Prophet Saleh and Prophet Hud,  in this cemetery in Najaf.  I visited the largest cemetery (kabrastan), Wadi Al-Salaam with my family members in the city of Najaf, Iraq. It is important to note that Wadi Al-Salaam is the biggest cemetery (kabrastan) all over the world and is situated in Najaf, Iraq. I also visited and the ziarat of the Prophet Salih and the Hud, with my family members. I also performed a special prayer (namaz) and ziarat of the Prophet Salih and Hud shrine with my family members in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.
