International Dance Day is celebrated once a year on April 29 worldwide to honor the birth anniversary of Jean-Georges Noverre. Jean-Georges Noverre is considered as the creator, founder, or father of modern romantic or classical dance or ballet. This international day encourages people to participate in dance in festivals, marriage ceremonies, and many more celebrations. The main goal of this global day is to empower or authorize the dance community to showcase their work to large numbers of audiences and also spread awareness about the essential value of dance.

ITI (International Theatre Institute) created the International Dance Day in the year 1982 and is also the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization). The main purpose of UNESCO is to promote global peace and security via worldwide cooperation in sciences, education, culture, and arts. This International Day encourages dance as a widespread value and is dedicated to the fine art of dance worldwide.
