World Piano Day is celebrated annually on the 88^th day of the year which means on March 29 in the year 2026 worldwide due to the number of keys on the musical instrument Piano is 88. If it is a leap year then this global day is celebrated on March 28 worldwide. The main purpose of this international day is to highlight the cultural significance, beauty, and versatility of one of the most beloved instruments. Nils Frahm, German Pianist and Composer, established this global day in the year 2015 to make a international community platform for piano players, piano builders, and listeners  to celebrate World Piano Day. This international day provides an opportunity to recognize or honor the rich legacy of the piano with continuous appeal across cultures and future generations worldwide.

The piano is a keyboard instrument, which produces or generates sound when the keys are pressed. Most of the pianos have a row of 88 white and black keys of which 52 keys are white and 36 keys are black with a wooden case that may protect the metal strings and soundboard. The piano is also a musical instrument that can be widely used in jazz, traditional, and classical music. This musical instrument is suitable for chamber music, accompaniment composition, and solo performances. It is also suitable for composing songwriting and rehearsals.

There are two types of piano – the upright piano and the grand piano , the upright piano is more commonly used because of the lower cost and smaller length whereas the grand piano provides better sound and more precise key control and it’s a great option for music lovers with a high price and cover more space as compared with upright piano. The main purpose of this global day is to promote music education and encourage individuals to appreciate and learn the special art of piano playing across the world.
