Indian Political Leaders who died in the year 2025

There are several political leaders who died in the year 2025 in our country are given below –

  1. Girija Vyas – Former Union Minister and Veteran Congress Leader, Girija Vyas died at the age of 79 on May 1 at the hospital in the city of Ahmedabad due to burn injuries in Puja ceremony at her home in the city of Udaipur, Rajasthan. Earlier, Girija Vyas was burnt or 90 percent burn injuries due to her long scarf (Dupatta), which may caught fire in the puja ritual on March 31, 2025 and was admitted to hospital. Indian Leader, Girija Vyas was a poet, author, and Congress Leader and was Member of Parliament (MP) from the Chittorgarh in the state of Rajasthan. Earlier, she was also president of the 5th National Commission for Women of India and concentrates on women’s basic rights and empowerment in India.
  2. Vijay Rupani – Indian BJP leader, Vijay Rupani died on June 12 in the year 2025 due to the airplane accident in Ahmedabad in which 241 people died. He was the chief minister of Gujarat between August 2016 and September 2021 for two uninterrupted terms. Vijay Rupani also worked as the cabinet minister under the chief minister Anandiben Patel between November 19, 2014 and September 11, 2021.
  3. Shibu Soren – Indian political leader, Shibu Soren died at the age of 81 on August 4 in the year 2025 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the city of Delhi due to chronic kidney disease and also suffered from stroke during the treatment. He was the creator or founder of JMM (Jharkhand and also played a significant role in the creation of the state of Jharkhand from the state of Bihar. He also worked as the third chief minister of Jharkhand firstly for 10 days due to fail in obtaining vote of confidence in the month of March 2025, later between 2008 and 2009, and again third time between 2009 and 2010.
  4. Satyapal Malik – Indian Governor, Satyapal Malik, died at the age of 79 in Delhi on August 5, 2025 in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi due to a kidney-related problems.  Earlier, he suffered from several kidney-related issues, which were treated in the big hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi. In recent years, he has served as a governor in the five states of India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya, Bihar, Goa, and Odisha.
  5. Vijay Kumar Malhotra – Indian political leader, Vijay Kumar Malhotra died at the age of 93 on September 30 in the year 2025 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the city of Delhi. He was a leader of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and was also the member of parliament (MP) of South Delhi and Delhi Sadar constituencies.
  6. Ravi Naik – Indian politician, Ravi Naik died at the age of 79 on October 14 in the year 2025 due to a heart attack. He started his career in the politics by contesting the first general election in the year 1980 from the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) but lost the election. He was also the member of BJP 9Bhartiya Janata Party and also worked as the fourth chief minister of Goa between January 25, 1991 and May 18, 1993 and secondly between April 2 and April 8 in the year 1994.
  7. Sriprakash Jaiswal – Indian politician, Sriprakash Jaiswal died at the age of 81 on November 28 due to a prolonged illness in the city of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. At present, he was the member of Indian National Congress and also worked as Minister of State for Home Affairs between May 23, 2004 and May 22, 2009 and also served as the Ministry of Coal between January 19, 2011 and May 26, 2014 under the prime minister Manmohan Singh.
  8. Shivraj Patil – Indian Congress leader, Shivraj Patil died at the age of 90 on December 12 in the year 2025 due to age-related illness at his home in Latur in the state of Maharashtra. He was a veteran or senior leader of Indian National Congress Party and worked as the union home minister between 2004 and 208 under the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He was also worked as the 10th Lok Sabha Speaker between July 10, 1991 and May 22, 1998 when the P.V. Narasimha Rao was prime minister of our country. Shivraj Patil was also the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh between 2010 and 2015 when the Prakash Singh Badal was the chief minister of Punjab.
