International Day to end violence against sex workers is observed every year on December 17 worldwide spread awareness about crimes against sex workers across the world. Robyn Few and Annie Sprinkle introduced or established this global day in the year 2023 to maintain the rights and spread awareness about crimes against sex workers all over the world., thus, this global day is first observed in the year 2003. Robyn Few and Annie Soarkle was also the director or founder of SWOP-USA (Sex Workers Outreach Project USA), who established or introduced the International Day in the year 2003 to raise awareness about the crime or violence against sex workers across the world.

This global day remembers those victims, who are murdered by Gary Rideay, which is also known as Green River Killer or serial killer. Gary Leon Ridway is also known as Green Valley Killer, is an American serial killer who murdered at about 49 sex workers from the year 1982 to 1998 in the United States. Thus, International Day to end violence against sex workers is observed every year on December 17 by sex workers to protect their rights and pay attention to crime against sex workers. On this day, several groups of sex workers spread awareness about crimes against sex workers across the world.
The main aim of this International Day is to encourage sex workers to fight violence against sex workers all over the world and protect the rights of sex workers. This International Day also mourns those sex workers who are killed or murdered by Green Valley Killer. The Red Umbrella is the International sign or symbol for the basic rights of sex workers and protest against the crime or violence against sex workers all over the world.
