Constitution Day 2025

Introduction – Constitution Day is also called as ‘’Samvidhan Divas’’ which is celebrated every year on November 26 in India to honor the adoption of the Constitution of India. Constitution Day is also known as National Law Day, which aims to highlight the importance of constitutional values among common people in India. It also marks the 133rd  birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in the year 2023.  Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was the chairman of the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly which has played a significant role in the drafting of the Constitution. Previously, Constitution Day was celebrated as a Law Day but in the year 2015, the central government modified Law Day as Constitution Day in our country.

History – The Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India on November 26, 1949, which came into effect on January 26, 1950. The main purpose of this day is to spread awareness about the importance of the Indian Constitution which was adopted on November 26, 1949. That’s why the Constitution is celebrated annually on November 26, 1949, across India. It is also called as ‘’Samvidhan Divas’’ which encourages the constitutional values among the common people of India.

Significance – Constitution Day is observed to make the citizens of our country aware of the Constitution. Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was the chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly which played a significant role in the framing of the Constitution of India. The main aim of this day is to honor the constitution of the framers of the Indian Constitution and to instruct or teach the prominent constitutional values among the common citizens of India. There are several programs including speeches, group discussions, quizzes, and many more are organized in schools, colleges, government offices, and many more.
