It’s a very shocking, heartbreaking, and very sad news that Indian singer and actress, Sulakshana Pandit died due to cardiac arrest on November 6 at the age of 71. She came from a musical family, which belongs to Pilimandori in Hissar in the state of Haryana. Pandit Jasraj was the uncle of Sulakshana Pandit. Sulakshana Pandit worked in Bollywood or Hindi movies between the 1970s and 1980s. She worked with several popular actors including Shatrughan Sinha, Shashi Kapoor, Jeetendra, Rajesh Khanna Vinod Khanna, and Sanjeev Kumar.

Sulakshana Pandit started her film career in the movie Uljhan, a suspense thriller movie, worked with popular actor Sanjeev Kumar in the year 1975. She also worked in several other movies such as Waqt Ki Deewar, Hera Pheri, Chehre Pe Chehra, Dharam Kanta, Khandaan, Garam Khoon, Raaz, Kasam Khoon Ki, Apnapan, and many more movies. She also worked with popular actor Uttam Kumar in the Bengali movie Bandie, which was released in the year 1978. The last movie of Sulakshana Pandit is Do Waqt Ki Roti with a popular actor, Sanjeev Kumar in the year 1988.

Sulakshana Pandit started her singing career as a child singer and sang “Saat Samundar Paar Se” with great singer, Lata Mangeshkar in the movie Tawdeer, which was released in the year 1967. She also sang Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, and Oriya, and also recorded with popular musicians Hemant Kumar and Kishore Kumar. She also introduced an album, which was named is Jazbaat where she submitted or presented ghazals in the year 1980. Sulakshana Pandit also sang duets with popular singers including Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mahendra Kappor, Lata Mangeshkar, and Udit Narayan.

Sulakshana Pandit also sang under several music directors such as Usha Khanna, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Kalyan Anandji, Shankar Jaikishan, Bappi Lahiri, Rajesh Roshan,  Khayyam,and many more. She also participated in performing at the Royal Albert Hall in the city of London to celebrate the ‘Festival of Indian Music’ concert with popular music director Laxmikant Pyarelal and several singers such as Anuradha Paudwal, Shabbir Kumar, Manhar, and Nitin Mukesh.

The last performance of Sulakshana Pandit, who sang song ‘Sagar Kinare Bhi Do Dil’ in the movie Khamoshi the musical that was composed by her brothers Lalit and Jatin in the year 1996. She also received the Filmfare Best Female Playback Award in the song ‘Tu Hi Sagar Hai Tu Hi Kinara’ in the movie Sankalp, in the year 1975.
