Introduction – World Radiography Day is celebrated every year on November 8 across the world to honor the discovery of X-Rays in the year 1895. The main aim of this international day is to raise awareness about the importance of radiology which contributes for patient care. This global day also marks the significant role of radiologists which plays an important role in diagnosing severe diseases through X-Rays.

Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was a German Scientist has completed the discovery of X-rays and X-radiation in the year 1895. Later, he became the first recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics with great achievement in the year 1901. The main purpose of this international day is to spread awareness of radiographic imaging and therapy which play a significant role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
History – As per several sources, firstly, World Radiography is celebrated in the year 2007 by the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists on November 8. In past, when the American College of Radiology (ACR), European Society of Radiology (ESR), and Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) came together to celebrate this international day in 2012.
Significance – Radiology is one of the medical disciplines which uses medical imaging for diagnosing and treating diseases within the bodies of humans and animals. There are several imaging techniques such as computed tomography (CT), X-Ray radiography, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET), and fluoroscopy that are used in diagnosing or treating diseases.
Radiography is a medical imaging technique that uses gamma rays, X-rays, and many more similar ionizing radiation and non-ionizing radiation that are used in viewing the internal form of object. Radiography is also the science of using radiation to provide images or photos of the bones, tissues, teeth, and many more organs of the human body. Medical professionals use radiography for diagnosing and treating medical conditions. Radiography is used in making images, which show the organs of the human body. It also helps in treating internal malignancies such as tumors.
