History – The sandwich was invented by John Montagu, the 4th Earl in the year 1762. John Montagu was a gambler, busy in playing cards, and did not have time to sit down for taking meal in the lunch and dinner. Thus, he asked to serve a roast beef is placed between two slices of bread that allowing John to have one hand to take a sandwich and another hand free to continue the game so the sandwich was invented or born at that time. Later, John Montagu is credited with popularizing or promoting the sandwich across the world.

Significance – The sandwich is simple delicious food and easy to make in minutes during breakfast and also lunch at the office and school.
