Is Appendicitis is dangerous for individuals

The appendix is a small finger-like pouch and is an important part of a human body. It is attached with the large intestine, which is situated in the lower right abdomen. Endocrine cells in the appendix, which are used in producing biogenic amines and peptide hormones that are involved to regulate homeostasis. The appendix play a significant role in the immune system by housing beneficial bacteria, which helps with B-lymphocyte maturation.

Lymphoid tissue begins to build up in the appendix soon after birth and reaches its peak between the second and third decades of life. It reduces quickly or rapidly with increasing in agevand later almost disappearing at the age of 60. In the early growth, the appendix work as a lymphoid to support the maturation of B lymphocytes and in the production of the class of antibodies called as immunoglobulin and use for antibodies. As per a study, the appendix is used in making molecules, which is beneficial in the movement of lymphocytes in several locations in the human body. The main work or purpose of appendix is to acts as a safe house for bacteria in recovery of diarrhea and is also used to repopulate the gut flora in the digestive system.

The appendix is situated in the lower right quadrant of the abdomen close to hip bone. The size of the appendix is around 8 to 10 cm and its diameter is about 7 to 8mm but in some cases, it may be larger up to around 12.8 mm or even more.

Is Appendix dangerous for human body – The common or main disease of the appendix in human beings is appendicitis, which is life threatening for individuals. The main cause of appendicitis is the blockage in the appendix, which may cause to bacterial and inflammation infection and is life threatening for individuals.

The main symptoms of appendicitis are given below

  1. Nausea
  2. Reduced appetite
  3. Abdominal pain
  4. Vomiting
  5. Abdominal swelling

Appendicitis is caused by the blockage of hollow portion of appendix and this blockage may increase pressure in the appendix, lower flow of blood in the tissues of appendix and bacterial growth.
