World Mental Health Day 2025

Introduction – World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on October 10 for drawing attention in mental health issues and their effects among common people across the world. The main aim of this international day is to spread awareness about mental health issues and mobilize efforts in support of mental health worldwide. As per the World Health Organization (WHO), a 25 percent increase in the prevalence of depression and anxiety across the world due to Covid-19.

There are several issues or problems, which affects the mental health are discussed below –

  • Stress – It is a feeling of physical tension or emotional which can come from any event or negative thought which makes feel nervous, frustrated and angry.  Stress is the reaction of body when any change which need a response or adjustment. During stress the reaction of body changes with physical, mental and emotional responses. In other words, stress can be positive such as deadline of official project or when it helps to avoid danger. But when earlier stress occurs for a long time period then it may for our health.
  • Anxiety – It is a normal healthy emotion, natural stress response and is a feeling of worry or fear. Anxiety may occur if you are going for a job interview in any multinational company, the first day of school, and any giving speech may cause most people to feel nervous and fearful. It is a common emotion that is characterized by worrying thoughts and physical changes such as increased blood pressure. But if you are suffering from anxiety for a long time that may interfere in your life then it may cause anxiety disorder.
  • Anxiety attack – It is a feeling of overwhelming apprehension fear, distress, or worry. In some cases, an anxiety attack occurs gradually and may be worsened as a stressful event approaches. Anxiety attacks may vary significantly and symptoms can differ that depend on the anxiety level of a person due to the signs of anxiety do not occur to everybody and can change from time to time.
  • Panic attack– A panic attack is a sudden incident of intense fear, which causes severe physical reactions if there is no real danger or apparent cause and may be very frightening. When a panic attack occurs, you may suffer problems like a heart attack or losing control, or even dying. Several people are suffered from one or two panic attacks in their whole life and end when a stressful condition may end. But if you are suffering from panic attacks for a long time then it may a condition of panic disorder.
  • Depression– It is a serious and common and serious medical illness which negatively effects on a person. It causes feelings of sadness and loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems due to avoidance of family members and special friends. It can decrease confidence of a person. Depression is also caused by several reasons such as family problems, problem in marriage life, boyfriend girlfriend relationship and many more reasons. Unemployment is one of the main reasons of depression which is a silent killer. Girl friend boyfriend relationship and problems in family and marriage life is also main reason for depression.
