World Wide Web Day 2025

World Wide Web is celebrated annually on August 1 to highlight the importance of the World Wide Web (WWW) across the world. Presently, World Wide Web is also popularly called as a web, is a system of interconnected or interrelated large number of documents and many other resources, which is accessible through the Internet with the help of hyperlinks. It allows individuals to use, find, simply share, and interact with various information via web browsers. It is also a huge collection of images, videos, webpages, and many other multimedia documents, which is always available for users.

World Wide Web also permits or allows large number of documents and many other web resources, which can be accessed or available on the Internet as per the particular rules of HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol). English Computer Scientist, Tim Berners-Lee, invented the World Wide Web (WWW) while working at CERN (is also called as the European Organization for Nuclear Research) in the year 1989 and made it accessible or available for common people in the year 1993. In the World Wide Web, huge number of documents and many other media or multimedia contents are available to the network via web servers, which can be accessed via web browsers for common people.

It is important to note that Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) also supports photos, scripts, plain text, embedded audio and video contents, which can be implemented with complex user interaction. HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) supports hyperlinks or embedded URLs that provide instant access to other web resources. The information on the World Wide Web is sent or transferred across the Internet with the help of HTTP. In this way, several web resources and generally associated with a theme and a domain name, which make up a website of any company or individual.

In the present time, the World Wide Web has become the dominant or leading information systems platform and is also the main tool, which connects crores of individuals to interact with the Internet across the world.
