World Hepatitis Day 2025

World Hepatitis Day is celebrated every year on July 28 to spread awareness about the dangerous disease, hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver that leads to severe liver disease and liver cancer among common people across the world. The primary objective of this global day is to raise awareness about hepatitis and its various types worldwide. This International Day provides an opportunity to educate people about the symptoms, causes, treatment, and prevention of viral hepatitis.

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, which may be caused by huge alcohol consumption, viral infection, fatty liver disease, autoimmune diseases, and many other health conditions. The liver is an important organ that filters blood in the human body, which comes from the digestive tract, before sending it to other organs. The main work of the liver is to filter or regulate the chemical levels in the human blood, which excretes a product known as bile that helps to carry waste products from the liver.  Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that is divided into five types, such as A, B, C, D, and E, where hepatitis B and C combined are one of the most common causes of death all around the world. Around 33 crore individuals are suffering from hepatitis B and C across the world.

There are several causes of hepatitis, including toxins, fatty liver disease, viral infections, alcohol consumption, autoimmune diseases, and many more. Many symptoms of Hepatitis are nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, fatigue, joint pain, jaundice, dark urine, abdominal pain, and many more. The treatment or medication of hepatitis mainly depends on the severity and type of this viral infection.
