International Yoga Day 2025

Introduction – International Yoga Day will be celebrated annually on June 21 worldwide to raise awareness about the health benefits of practicing yoga.  Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21 because it is the longest day of the year. The main purpose of this international day is to highlight the benefits of practicing yoga for health. This International Day recognizes yoga, an ancient Indian art that positively affects physical, spiritual well-being, and mental health.

History – The United Nations General Assembly announced that International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on June 21 across the world. It is the great achievement of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi that the whole world celebrates Yoga Day on June 21 worldwide. Firstly, this international was observed on June 21 in the year 2015 all around the world. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India proposed the idea of celebrating International Yoga Day in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly. Indian Prime Minister also emphasized the significance of practicing Yoga regularly in our daily life and as an invaluable gift from an ancient tradition of India which was mentioned in his speech. Yoga may have originated thousands of years ago in our country also mentioned in ancient mythological books including Rig Veda.
