World Day Against Child Labor 2025

Introduction –The World Day Against Child Labor is observed annually on June 12 to highlight the difficulties and problems of child labor worldwide. This Global Day also encourages labor organizations, society, governments, and many others to eliminate or abolish child labor completely worldwide. The main aim of this international day is to end child labor by providing shelter, education, jobs, and making independent individuals worldwide.

This International Day is observed by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and its associated partners worldwide About 218 million child laborers work as servants in several houses or shops across the world. Children are kidnapped and forced to work in slavery, hazardous environments, and many other forms of forced labor in several countries. They are not studying in school and also have no time to play with not receiving proper nutrition or care. The main purpose of this international day is to raise awareness about this global problem and resolve it by providing education, shelter, and care.

History – The International Labor Organization (ILO) introduced the World Day Against Child Labor in the year 2002 to prevent the problem of child labor across the world. Thus, this International Day is celebrated first on June 12, in the year 2002. The main goal of this International Day is to highlight the exploitation of child laborers and mobilize to eliminate child labor worldwide. This day also concentrates on the difficulties or problems which are faced by child laborers across the world.

Theme – The theme of World Day Against Child Labor in the year 2025 is ‘’Progress is clear, but there’s more to do: Let’s speed up efforts’ which discusses or talking or working on eliminating child labor across the world. In the previous year, the theme of World Day Against Child Labor in the year 2024 was ‘’Let’s act on your commitments: End Child Labor’’ which talks about ending or eliminating child labor by taking steps in the development of children and taking legal against those individuals or criminal group who are involved in kidnapping and forced to work as child labor.

Significance – At present, children are forced to work as slaves, and are forced to be involved in several illicit activities including drug trafficking, prostitution, and many more so child labor is a very serious problem worldwide. Most children belong to poor families so they work as child labor in several homes and industries. Several criminals may kidnap children and force them to work as servants and do many illegal activities in several countries. Thus, the Governments of all countries must try to eliminate child labor in their country by providing free education, shelter, food, medical facilities, and many more to reduce child labor. The government should also take action against those criminal groups who are involved in kidnapping children and forced to work as child labor.
