World Turtle Day 2025

World Turtle Day is celebrated annually on May 23 across the world to spread awareness about the conservation and protection of turtles and tortoises, which are two different animals. The main goal of this global day is to raise awareness about the lifestyle and habitat of tortoises and turtles across the world. This International Day also encourages individuals to understand these two animals turtles and tortoises better and contribute to their welfare.

Tortoises and turtles are two different reptiles, which are found in several parts of the world. The main difference between the tortoise and a turtle is that the tortoise lives on land whereas the turtle lives in the water. Both have different age groups tortoises living up to 300 years old whereas turtles live up to only 40 years old. Tortoises and turtles play a vital role in their ecosystems with tortoises maintaining an ecological balance by digging holes, which are inhabited or occupied by other creatures while turtles feed or eat dead fish which wash or lean up the shores.

The main purpose of this global day is to encourage individuals to come together and support or protect turtles and tortoises across the world. This International Day also highlights the importance of conserving and protecting turtles and tortoises with their habitat worldwide. You can also celebrate this global day by sharing the importance of conserving and protecting both turtles and tortoises worldwide.
