Who is Sofiya Qureshi

Introduction – Presently, Sofiya Qureshi represents the developing or growing the important role of women in the Indian Army during the Operation Sindoor against the terrorists in Pakistan.

Sofiya Qureshi is a senior officer and a good position, which holds the important position of Colonel in the Indian Army. Earlier, she became the first woman to lead an Indian squad or team in the United Nations Peacekeeping mission. Sofiya Qureshi gained popularity for her leadership during the India Pakistan tension in the year 2025. She has  modernized the technological capabilities of Indian Army while working as a expert or specialist in military communications and cyber warfare in the Indian Army. Sofiya Qureshi also participated in the Operation Prakaram when the terrorists attack Indian Parliament in the year 2001.

Early and Personal Life – Col Sofiya Qureshi was born in the year 1974 in Vadodara in the state of Gujarat. Father’s name and Mother’s name of Sofiya Qureshi is Mohammad Qureshi and Amina Qureshi. Earlier, Sofiya Qureshi received a degree of biotechnology at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in the year 1997, which is situated in Vadodara in the state of Gujarat.

Military Career – Sofiya Qureshi also participated in counter-insurgency operations in North-East India and Jammu and Kashmir. She was also commissioned in the year 1994 into the Army Signal Corps and also helped in developing the first mobile digital communication network of Army in the year 2001. Sofiya Qureshi also involved or contributed in the UN peacekeeping mission at the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the year 2006. She became the lieutenant colonel in the year 2008 and also worked or led the team to modernize in the Signal Intelligence Wing Army Headquarter. Sofiya Qureshi became the first Indian woman officer or colonel to lead an Indian training team or contingent and also led 40 Indian army in the multinational military exercise at Force 18 including ASEAN countries in the year 2016.

Family Background – Sofiya Qureshi is a senior officer and holds the good position in the Indian Army and represents the third generation of her family in the Indian Army. The grandfather and father of Sofiya Qureshi were in the Indian Army. The father of Sofiya Qureshi participated in the 1971 war against Pakistan. The maternal grandfather of Sofiya Qureshi’s father were in British Army and later involved in the 1857 freedom struggle against British Government. The husband of Sofiya Qureshi is an officer in Mechanized infantry in the Indian Army.
