World Tuberculosis Day 2025

Introduction – World Tuberculosis Day is celebrated every year on March 24 to spread awareness about the symptoms, causes, and prevention of tuberculosis across the world. This global day marks or honors the work of Dr. Robert Koch who discovered the bacteria which causes Tuberculosis (TB) in the year 1882. This international day provides an opportunity to unite political and social support to eradicate tuberculosis (TB) across the world.

Tuberculosis – It is a serious and infectious disease, which may cause infection in the lungs and many other tissues that can mainly affect the lungs. Tuberculosis may also spread in several other parts of the human body such as the brain, kidneys, and spine. The main cause of tuberculosis is the bacterium that name is Mycobacterium. Tuberculosis may spread easily when any individual sneezes, or coughs and can put little droplets with germs into the air, some people may breathe in the droplets so germs enter into their lungs. This infectious disease can spread easily in crowds in any area of the city.

Symptoms – There are several symptoms of tuberculosis are given below –

  • Fever
  • Weight loss
  • Not feeling well
  • Coughing with mucus or blood
  • Tiredness
  • Night sweats
  • Chest pain
  • Pain with coughing or breathing

Causes – The main cause of tuberculosis by a bacterium is known as Mycobacterium. Tuberculosis can spread easily if any person sings, coughs, sneezes, laughs, and many more then releasing droplets in the air carrying bacterial and when any person breathes in the air then droplets with bacteria can enter their lungs. When any individual is at a crowded place then it may increase the risk of getting infected with tuberculosis.

Prevention – if any individual is suffering from tuberculosis, then they should stay at their home to prevent the spread of tuberculosis in society. There are several other precautions taken by you with tuberculosis are given below –

  • Should wear face masks
  • Isolate at your home
  • Must stay at your home
  • Ventilate your rooms in your homes
  • Must cover your mouth
