Earlier, CSK won the toss and chose to bowl first thus MI first batted and made a low score of 155/9 in 20 overs due to great bowling by Noor Ahmed 4/18 (4), Khaleel Ahmed 3/29 (4), and Ravichandran Ashwin 1/31 (4).  Tilak Varma 31 (25), Suryakumar Yadav  29 (26), and Deepak Chahar 28* (15) were good batting from the MI side. After this inning, MI set a low target of 156 runs for CSK to win this match.

During chasing, CSK loses 6 wickets, easily reached the target of 156 runs in 19.1 overs and won the match by 4 wickets against MI due to great batting by Rachin Ravindra 65* (45), Ruturaj Gaikwad 53 (26), and Ravindra Jadeja 17 (18). Vignesh Puthur 3/32 (4), Deepak Chahar 1/18 (2), and Will Jacks 1/32 (4) were good bowling from the MI side.

Noor Ahmed (CSK), 4/18 (4), was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in bowling in this match.
