In the first match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the match by 7 wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) due to great performance in batting and bowling. After winning this match, RCB was placed in the top position with 2 points in the IPL 2025.

Earlier, RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first thus KKR first batted and made a low score of 174/8 in 20 overs due to great bowling by Krunal Pandya 3/29 (4), Josh Hazlewood 2/22 (4), Yash Dayal 1/25 (3), and Rasikh Salam 1/35 (3). Ajinkya Rahane 56 (31), Sunil Narine 44 (26), and Angkrish Raghuwanshi 30 (22) were good batting from the KKR side. After this inning, KKR set a good target of 175 runs in 20 overs for RCB to win this match.

During chasing, RCB lost 3 wickets and reached the target of 175 runs in 16.2 overs  and won the match by 7 wickets against KKR due to great batting by Virat Kohli 59*(36), Phil Salt 56 (31), and Rajat Patidar 34 (16). Sunil Narine 1/27 (4), Vaibhav Arora 1/42 (3), and Varun Chakravarthy 1/43 (4) were good bowling from the KKR side.

Krunal Pandya (RCB), 3/29 (4), was declared as the Player of the Match due to great performance in bowling in this match.
