Sumit Antil

Introduction – Sumit Antil is an Indian Para Javelin Thrower and won the gold medal in men’s men’s javelin throw at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Earlier, he also won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.

Sumit Antil set a world record in double times with the javelin throws of 68.55m and 70.59m in both the Paralympics Games. He also won two gold medals in the World Para Championships. He also won the gold medal in javelin throw at the Asian Para Games in the year 2022.

Personal Details – Sumit Antil was born in Sonipat in the state of Haryana on June 7 in the year 1998. The father of Sumit Antil worked in the Indian Air Force and died when Sumit Antil was 7-year old. The mother of Sumit Antil encourage his son to make career in sports. Sumit Antil has three sisters namely Sushila, Kiran, and Renu.

Earlier, Sumit Antil wanted to make a career in the wrestling and joined the Indian Army. But when he was back to home from the tution class, his motor cycle hitting by a speedy truck when he was only 17-year old in the year 2015 and his left leg was amputated and he left his dream of  becoming a wrestler.

Achievements – Sumit Antil won the gold medal with the best throw or Paralympic record of 70.59m in the men’s javelin throw F64 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Earlier, he also won the gold medal with the best throw or Paralympic record of 68.55m in the men’s javelin throw F64 event at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.

Earlier, Sumit Antil won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw by making the world record or best throw of 73.29m at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou in the year 2022.

Sumit Antil also won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw F64 event at the World Para Championships in Kobe in the year 2024. He also won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw F64 event at the World Para Championships in Paris in the year 2023. He also won the silver medal in the men’s javelin throw F64 event at the World Para Championships in Dubai in the year 2019.

Awards – Sumit Antil received Padam Shri Award, fourth highest civilian award of India in the year 2022. He also awarded by the Khel Ratna Award, highest sporting honour of India in the year 2021.
