Introduction – World Population Day is celebrated every year on July 11 to draw attention towards the problems of the rapid increase in population across the world. The main aim of this international day is to spread awareness about the harmful effects of increasing population all around the world. Now, increasing population or overpopulation is the mother problem that may cause unemployment, pollution, traffic jams, price rise, poverty, and many more problems. The global day aims to raise awareness among people about the adverse effects of the increasing population worldwide that may harm the progress of humanity and the environment

History – The United Nations established world population day in the year 1989 which was celebrated as ‘Five Billion Day’ in the year 1987 to recognize the five billion milestones the world had reached. As per the United Nations Population Fund, the population of the whole world may be 8 billion in the year 2022. Earlier the world population reached 7 billion in the year 2011. The resolution was passed on July 11, 1990, and decided to celebrate as World Population Day annually on July 11 across the world.
Theme – The theme of World Population Day in the year 2024 is “Leave no one behind, count everyone” which highlights the significance of investing in the collection of data about understanding problems and difficulties of increasing population across the world. Previously, the theme of World Population Day in the year 2022 is ‘’A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all-Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choice for all’’ to mark the world population reaching the 8 billion in 2022 but not all of them have equal right and opportunities.
Significance – The main purpose of this global day is to raise awareness about the hazardous effects of the rapidly increasing population across the world. This international day highlights the problems including starvation, poverty, unemployment, pollution, and many more that are caused by overpopulation all over the world. If the Governments of countries worldwide try to reduce their population, then it may automatically prevent the problem of unemployment, poverty, hunger, price rise, and many more. Increasing population continuously may cause enhanced poverty, pollution, and many more issues across the world. The Governments of countries worldwide should take steps to reduce the population of their countries that lower poverty, unemployment, and lower pollution to make a green environment.
Ok, I would like to admin, I wasn’t aware about the day. So many days to remember about…
