In the first semifinal match of South Africa and Afghanistan of T20 World Cup 2024, South Africa won the match by 9 wickets with Afghanistan due to great performance in bowling. After winning this match, South Africa reached first time in the final of T20 World Cup.

Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first and was all out at only 56 runs in 11.5 overs due to great bowling by Tabraiz Shamsi 3/6 (1.5), Marco Jansen 3/16 (3), and Anrich Nortje 2/7 (3). Azmatullah Omarzai 10 (12), Gulbadin Naib 9 (8), and Rashid Khan 8 (8) were good batting from the Afghanistan side. After this inning, Afghanistan set a very low target of 57 runs in 20 overs for South Africa to win this match.

During chasing, South Africa lost 1 wicket, reached the target of 56 runs in 8.5 overs, and won the match by 9 wicket with Afghanistan due to good batting by both Reeza Hendricks 29* (25), and Aiden Markram 23* (21) were good batting from the South Africa. Fazalhaq Farooqi 1/11 (2) was only wicket-taker bowler from the Afghanistan side.

Marco Jansen (SA) 3/16 (4), was declared as the Player of the Match due to great performance in bowling.
