Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first thus India first batted and made a huge score of 196/5 in 20 overs due to great batting by Hardik Pandya 50* (27), Virat Kohli 37 (28), Rishabh Pant 36 (24), Shivam Dube 34 (24), and Rohit Sharma 23 (11). Tanzim Hasan Shakib 2/32 (4), Rishad Hossain 2/43 (3), and Shakib Al Hasan 1/37 (3) were wicket-taker bowlers from the Bangladesh side. After this inning, India set a huge target of 197 runs in 20 overs for Bangladesh to win this match.

During chasing, Bangladesh scored 146/8 in 20 overs and lost the match by 50 runs with India due to great bowling by Kuldeep Yadav 3/19 (4), Jasprit Bunrah 2/13 (4),  Arshdeep Singh 2/30 (4), and Hardik Pandya 1/32 (3). Najmul Hossain Shanto 40 (32), Tanzid Hasan 29 (31), and Rishad Hossain 24 (10) were good batting from the Bangladesh side.
