In the third match of super 8 between India and Afghanistan in T20 World Cup 2024, India won the first match of super 8 by 47 runs with Afghanistan due to great performance in batting and bowling. After winning this match, India was placed in the top position with 2 points in group 1 as per the points table of T20 World Cup 2024.

Earlier, India won the toss and chose to bat first and made a good score of 181/8 against Afghanistan due to great batting by Suryakumar Yadav 53 (28), Hardik Pandya 32 (24), and Virat Kohli 24 (24). Rashid Khan 3/26 (4), Fazalhaq Farooqi 3/33 (4), and Naveen-ul-Haq 1/40 (4) were good bowling from the Afghanistan side. After this inning, India set a good target of 182 runs in 20 overs for Afghanistan to win this match.

During chasing, Afghanistan was all out at only 134 in 20 overs and lost the match by 47 runs with India due to great bowling by Jasprit Bunrah 3/7 (4), Arshdeep Singh 3/36 (4), and Kuldeep Yadav 2/32 (4). Azmatullah Omarzai 26 (20), Najibullah Zadran 19 (17/ and Gulbadin Naib 17 (21) were good batting from the Afghanistan side.

Suryakumar Yadav (IND), 53 (28), was declared as the Player of the Match due to great performance in batting.
