Introduction – International Labour Day is celebrated every year on May 1 to spread awareness about the contributions and struggles or difficulties of labours across the world. The main purpose of this international day is to appreciate and recognize the contributions of workers and to protect or advocate labour’s basic rights worldwide.

This global also honors the Labour Class Movement of the 19th century where labourers tirelessly demonstrated or advocated for improved working conditions such as suitable or fair wages, and eight-hour work per day. Presently, labourers play an important role in the development of the country. Our government and big multinational companies take care of their workers or labourers by listening to their issues and resolving them immediately.
History – The American Federation of Labour chose May 1 to honor the general strike in the United States that had started on May 1 in the year 1886 and is called as the Haymarket Affair. A large demonstration occurred in America where the workers demanded 8 hours of work on a regular basis in the year 1886. The demonstration went out of hand in Chicago and large numbers of individuals got injuries or hurt and this incident is called as The Haymarket Affair. This incident or event marked the beginning or start of the International Labour Day or Labour Day across the world in the year 1889 when huge numbers of socialist parties came together in Europe and decided to celebrate International Labour Day every year on May 1 all over the world.
Significance – This International Day authorizes and commemorates the contribution of the workers and the labour class in the development of the country and society. It also provides an opportunity for labours to learn about their basic rights in their countries worldwide. This global day also urges individuals to come together and improve the conditions of labours all around the world. The main aim of this international day is to honor the contribution, dedication, and hard work of labours across the world.
Most of the countries declared International Labour Day as the public holiday to celebrate this global day. Big organizations or companies listen to the difficulties of their labours and resolve them immediately and also help in the difficult conditions of workers. Government should also take care of their labours or working class by providing packages and improving their conditions or resolving their difficulties.
