Importance of Fitrah or Zakat al-Fitr before Eid-ul-Fitr celebration

Introduction – The word ‘’Fitrah’’ is an Arabic word which means ‘’Original Deposition’’ and is a mandatory charity which is distributed during the ending of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan. Zakat-al-Fitr or Fitrah is an obligatory charitable donation to poor individuals who are not able to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr before Eid-ul-Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan. This fitrah or donation provides to cleanse those fasting (Roza) in the holy month of Ramadan and making ensure that everyone has sufficient food and celebrate items before Eid-ul-Fitr. All Muslims across the world must be paid on their own behalf and on behalf of their dependents including children and wives.

Fitrah or Zakat-al-Fitr is a form of purification or cleanse for those fasting (Roza) during the holy month of Ramadan, intended to compensate for any faults or mistakes made at the time of fasting and also thanks to God (Allah) for blessing it with several gifts. It is also a form of charity or donation for those individuals who are not able to purchase new clothes and sweets to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr

Fitrah must be paid before the beginning of Eid-prayer (Namaz) and is wajib for every Muslim whether male female or minor, or adult, minor to less fortunate. As per the Islamic tradition, it is obligatory for the head of the family must pay the required amount for other members before Eid Prayer (Namaz).

Importance of Fitrah or Zakat-al-Fitr in Eid-ul-Fitr – Fitrah provides the requirements for poor people to celebrate Eid with other members of society without asking for charity. It also offers the poor or needy individuals that they can celebrate with dignity the Eid-ul-Fitr festival that concludes at the end of Ramadan. Fitrah allows poor or needy people to buy new clothes and sweets for their families to celebrate Eid-ul Fitr with their loved ones. They also wear new clothes and delicious dishes to celebrate Eid ul Fitr with their families.

The main aim of Fitrah or Zakat-al-Fitr is to enable poor individuals to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr by purchasing or wearing new clothes and sweets. It must be paid before the Eid prayer (Namaz) or celebrations.

Amount – Each individual should give charity or Fitrah which is equivalent to 2.6 to 3kg of grain. The minimum amount per person is about Rs 100 for Fitrah to poor individuals.
