Laylat al-Qadr (Shab-e-Qadr)

Laylat al-Qadr also called as Shab-e-Qadr, Night of Power, is considered one of the holiest or sacred nights in the Islamic Calendar and is observed by all Muslims worldwide during the last ten days of Ramadan. As per Islamic Belief, the holy book, Quran was first sent down from heaven to the world and is a precious night when the first verses of holy book, Quran were revealed or introduced to the Prophet Mohammad. It is believed that Angel Jibril (Gabriel) delivered the Quran to the Prophet Mohammad that occured on this night. It is also believed that Prophet Mohammad became the Prophet and Messenger of Allah on this night thus Laylat al-Qadr (Shab-e-Qadr) is also called as Night of Power.

According to Islamic Belief, all the sins and mistakes of the individual are forgiven and wishes or prayers are accepted by Almighty Allah. Thus, it is believed that Laylat al-Qadr (Shab-e-Qadr) is better than a thousand nights of worshipping. Laylat al-Qadr (Shab-e-Qadr) is observed by all Muslims across the world with huge devotion to Almighty Allah. Muslims pray the whole night to seek blessings and believe that their sins and mistakes are forgiven and prayers (namaz) are accepted on this holy night by Almighty Allah.

According to Shia Muslims, they believe that the Shab-e-Qadr may occur on the 19th, 21st, and 23rd nights of Ramzan with the 23rd being the most important or holiest or sacred night. As per Sunni Muslims, they believe that the Shab-e-Qadr may occur on odd-numbered nights and fall on the 21st, 23rd, 25th,27th, or 29th in the last ten days of Ramzan.
