The Indian Government celebrates or designates Prevention of Blindness Week between April 1 and April 7 in the year 2024 to highlight the importance of daily eye examinations to lower the risk of eye-related diseases including eye injuries, cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and many more. The main purpose of this week is to spread awareness about the several factors that may cause blindness across the country.

Several eye diseases that may be responsible for blindness and visual impairment pose significant health challenges for common people in our country. Many leading causes of vision impairment and blindness in our country are glaucoma, cataracts, and many more. Thus, people must have regular eye check-ups with their doctors to lower the risk of eye-related diseases that may cause blindness.
This day provides an opportunity to create a nationwide campaign, which unites educators, social workers, and healthcare professionals to organize daily free eye-checkups for individuals to reduce the risk of several eye-diseases among common people. The main purpose of this prevention week is to spread awareness about the importance of eyes in our daily lives and to regular eye check-ups to lower the risk of several eye diseases that may cause blindness.

It also provides an opportunity to promote a healthy lifestyle such as daily exercise, balanced diet, avoid smoking or other bad habits that may lower the risk of developing eye diseases that may cause blindness in our country. Indian Government should conduct educational campaigns to share knowledge about eye health with several preventing measures to lower the risk of developing eye-related diseases that may be responsible for blindness.
This is great for people for a safe sight😊
