England won the first test match by only 28 runs with India

In the first test match between India and England, England won the test match by only 28 runs with India due to great batting by Ollie Pope 196 (278) and best bowling by Tom Hartley 7/62 (26.2). After winning the first test match, England leads by (1-0) in the five-test match series against India.

Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bat first and was all out at only 246 runs in the first inning due to great bowling by Ravichandran Ashwin 3/68 (21), Ravindra Jadeja 3/88 (18), Axar Patel 2/33 (13), and Jasprit Bumrah 2/28 (8.3). Ben Stokes 70 (88), Jonny Bairstow 37 (58), Ben Duckett 35 (39), and Joe Root 29 (60) were good batting from the England side.

India made a huge score of 436 runs in 10 wickets in the first inning due to great batting by Ravindra Jadeja 87 (180), K.L Rahul 86 (123), Yashasvi Jaiswal 80 (74), Axar Patel 44 (100), Srikar Bharat 41 (81), and Shreyas Iyer 35 (63). Joe Root 4/79 (29), Rehan Ahmed 2/105 (24), Tom Hartley 2/131 (25), and Jack Leach 1/63 (26) were good bowling from the England side. After this inning, India leads by 190 runs against England.

England made a huge score of 420 runs in 10 wickets in the second inning due to great batting by Ollie Pope 196 (278), Ben Duckett 47 (52), Tom Hartley 34 (52), Ben Foakes 34 (81), Zak Crawley 31 (33), and Rehan Ahmed 28 (53). Jasprit Bumrah 4/41 (16.1), Ravichandran Ashwin 3/126 (29), Ravindra Jadeja 2/131 (34), and Axar Patel 1/74 (16) were good bowling from the Indian side. After this inning, England set a good target of 230 runs for India to win the first test match.

But India was all out at only 202 runs in the second inning due to great bowling by Tom Hartley 7/62 (26.2), Jack Leach 1/33 (10), and Joe Root 1/41 (19). Rohit Sharma 39 (58), Srikar Bharat 28 (59), Ravichandran Ashwin 28 (84), and K.L. Rahul 22 (48) were good batting from the Indian side.

Ollie Pope (ENG), 196 (278), was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting.
