World Anesthesia Day is also called as Ether Day in several countries is celebrated every year on October 16 to mark the discovery of anesthesia 176 years ago which made it possible for patients to experience or suffer surgical procedures without any pain.

Anesthesia is the use of medicines to lower or prevent pain throughout the surgical and many other procedures and these medicines are known as anesthetics. It may be given through inhalation, spray, injection, and many more. Anesthesia can be used in slight procedures such as surgical conditions, childbirth, filling a tooth, and many more. It is also used in minor and major surgeries in hospitals.
There are several types of anesthesia such as regional anesthesia, local anesthesia, and general anesthesia. Normally, anesthesia is safe but it may be risks, especially with general anesthesia including allergic reactions, breathing problems, heart rhythm, and many more. The main purpose of this global day is to raise awareness about the importance of anesthesia during surgical procedures across the world.
Sure glad they came up with this. 🙂
