World Vegetarian Day 2022

Introduction – World Vegetarian Day is celebrated every year on October 1 across the world to encourage a vegetarian diet and spread awareness about the health benefits of vegetables. The main aim of this international day is to create awareness about the health of vegetarianism like lower the risk of heart problems with other health complications. People celebrate this international day by eating several vegetable dishes. It is important to note that October 1 is celebrated as a vegetarian awareness that ends in the month of November with World Vegan Day. The vegetarian diet contains plant-based foods which are systematically enjoyed by the people with various delicious dishes.

History – World Vegetarian Day was established by the North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS) in the year 1977 to spread awareness about the benefits of a vegetarian diet and also promote common people to save animal lives. Later, the International Vegetarian Union also endorsed this international day in the year 1978. In the year 1974, the North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS) is a non-profit tax-exempt educational organization and is located in the United States. As per North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS), October 1 was chosen as an official date of World Vegetarian Day to spread awareness about the environmental, humanitarian, and health benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle across the world.

Significance – Vegetarian food focuses on green vegetables, fruits seeds, grains, and nuts. It also contains healthy animal products such as honey, dairy, and eggs. The main aim of this international day is to increase awareness about the several health benefits of vegetarianism that supports networks for vegetarians worldwide. This international day encourages the benefits of taking green vegetables and focuses on creating awareness for helping to save animals and preserve the Earth. As per a study, a vegetarian diet may help to maintain heart health and lower the risk of diabetes. Vegetables lower the risk of heart diseases and strokes which is beneficial for your health.
