Introduction – World Freedom Day is celebrated annually on November 9 that marks the rise of democracy and freedom and also the fall of communism i Eastern Europe. In past, the historic event in history occurs when the Berlin Wall was abolished on this day.

History – George Bush, former president of the United States, announced that World Freedom Day is observed annually on November 9 to honor the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the communist rule in Eastern and Central Europe. Firstly, this global day was celebrated on November 9, 2001.
Significance – In the past, Germany was divided into East and West Germany after the end of World War II. British, French, and the Americans occupied West Germany whereas East Germany became the Soviet-occupied Germany Democratic Republic. In the year 1949, East Germany gained status as an independent country and the city of Berlin became a part of Soviet-controlled Germany. After division, a wall was made for preventing the migration of people between East Berlin and West Berlin. Thousands of people impatiently climbed and hit the Berlin wall with chisels and hammers. In the year 1989. The Berlin wall was coming down on November 9, 1989, and after one year, Germany became a single territory again in the year 1990.

Thus, World Freedom Day is observed annually on November 9 to spread awareness about the several problems that are still occurring all over the world.
