International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2021

Introduction – The International for Disaster Risk Reduction is observed on October 13 once a year to encourage a worldwide culture of risk awareness and disaster reduction. The disasters are caused by natural and manmade hazards that impact the lives of people all over the world. Most of the damage can be reduced by proactive measures and preparation.

International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction today

History – In the year 1989, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction was founded by the United Nations General Assembly to promote a culture of risk awareness and disaster reduction all over the world.

Theme – The theme of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction in the year 2021 is ‘’International cooperation for developing countries to reduce disaster risk and disaster losses’’ to promote collaboration of international help for developing countries to lower the disasters losses and risks.

Significance – Presently, several cyclones, earthquakes, floods, and many more disasters more occur as compared in the previous 10 years. Due to global warming and season changes, these disasters occur all around the world. These disasters can be responsible for thousands of lives and also harm the economic development of countries. This day aims to reduce the risk of disasters by planting trees and lower the manmade hazards that are harmful for the lives and economic development of countries.
