Introduction – World Rose Day is celebrated on September 22 every year globally in memory of a 12-year Canadian girl, Melinda who had blood cancer. The doctor declared that Melinda was not going to live more than few weeks due to blood cancer. After the declaration of a doctor, Melinda lived 6-more months and lived her life with great enjoyment. During this period, she met thousands of cancer patients and filled them with happiness and hope.

World Rose Day is dedicated to cancer patients and celebrated to raise awareness about causes and prevention of cancer that is the second most death leading disease worldwide.

History – World Rose Day is celebrated on September 22 annually to dedicate Melinda Rose and other millions of cancer patients who are fighting this dreadful disease or lost their lives due to cancer. It is observed in the memory of Melinda Rose who are suffered with Askin’s Tumor that is a rare type of blood cancer. The doctor declared that Melinda was not going to live more than 6 months thus she dedicated her last 6 months to the other cancer patients. Melinda tried to make them happy by sharing poems, letters, and emails with them. The main purpose of this day is to motivate cancer patients that they can fight and can defeat this disease.

Theme – The theme of World Rose Day in the year 2021 has not been declared yet. The previous year, the theme of World Rose Day in the year 2020 was ‘’Changing The Way We Look At Cancer’’.  The theme of this day concentrates on spreading awareness about the causes and prevention of cancer. This day is celebrated globally to honor the bravery of people who fight cancer. We also give hope to those people who are suffering from dreadful cancer disease by offering roses. It is also celebrated to encourage awareness about the causes and prevention of cancer.

Significance – Cancer is a very dangerous disease and fight against this dreadful disease is difficult and an exhaustive one. Society will try to bring happiness to those people who are suffering from cancer. Our society should motivate cancer patients to fight and prevent this disease. On this day, people give roses to cancer patients to give hope for life. This day aims to raise awareness about the causes, early detections, and the prevention of cancer.
