International Picnic Day 2021

Introduction – International Picnic Day will be celebrated on June 18 every year. Picnic is one of the popular activities with your friends or family members all over the world. Everyone enjoys either children or youth or adult people with delicious food at the picnic. Children especially enjoy the picnic in any park with a different type of sports such as cricket, football, and many more. When holidays started then most of the family members go for a picnic with their family members and close friends.

Most of the people go for a picnic with a meal including sandwiches, chips, tea, fruits, cold drinks, and many more. At the picnic, family member or close friends spend their special and improves the relation between them. Several schools and colleges have also organized a picnic for their students on any holiday. Some of the companies may also organize a picnic to enjoy and motivate their employers to more hard work for their company. But due to Covid-19, it may affect the gathering of families or friends in any picnic spot that creates difficulty to celebrate this day.

History – The term ‘’picnic’’ comes from the French language, which is specifically from the word ‘’pique-nique’’. After the French Revolution in the mid-1800s, it is believed that this type of familiar outdoor meal activity may become popular in France. On this day, several charitable events are also held by schools or other institutions for utilizing the occasion to host picnics for their pupils.

Significance – Picnics are held all around the world to bring together family members and friends. For this picnic, they used to bring soft drinks, juices, food, and other necessities to provide with their close friends or relatives.

The International Picnic Day will be celebrated on the first Monday of August every year in the northern territory of Australia. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the biggest picnic occurred in Portugal.
