With the advent of Internet and Web, Java became the forefront computer language due to its portable programs. Since Internet consists of a diverse and distributed world of a largely variety of operating systems, computers and Central Processing Unit hence users like to run this portable program. As the Java derives object-oriented features of C++, it is cohesive, logically consistent and a practical language. Thus Java is for Internet programming as compared to ‘C” which is for systems programming.
Java has a deep effect on the Internet due to it expands the universe of those objects that can more almost freely in cyberspace. In a network, the transmission of passive information and active programs are quite common between the server and one’s own Personal Computer. Such dynamic programs can be very conveniently run on Java. Java has opened the door to a new program called applet. The applet is an application which is designed to be transmitted over the Internet. It is executed by a Java-compatible web browser.
Java provides a high level security against risk of viral infection and malicious programs that can gather private information such as bank balances, credit card numbers and passwords and many more. This security is assured by means of ‘firewall’, provided between network application and the computer of the business concern. The ability to download Applets without harm and without breach of security makes Java very important for Internet information services, and e-business requirements. This also helps in creating portability, and thus Java solutions are easy and efficient.

Java is the programming language that will kill and is probably already killing C++ even though some of Java’s features were inspired by C++.
