Very interesting to read and clearly reflects your passion for interiors as well as your true aesthetic sense! Just wanted to say that even though ‘interior designing’ and ‘interior decorating’ are used interchangeably by many people, there are some major differences in the roles of designers versus decorators: (my apologies if you have already implicitly stated that in your article but I felt the need to clarify here). Whereas an Int decorator focuses merely on aesthetics, on textures, patterns etcetera, an interior designer goes way beyond just mere aesthetics to actually understanding the clients’/peoples’ behaviours as well as the social/cultural/demographic and locational contexts, regulatory and environmental environments to determine the final functionality of spaces – transforming their detailed research into a creative process. Especially where it comes to restructuring/renovating such as removing/adding walls or windows, that is actually the roles of interior designers, not decorators. Also, you need formal education/degree, training and license to be an interior designer but to be an interior decorator, that is not mandatory. Interior designers touch upon many skills during their training including researching colours, materials, CAD design skills, drawings/drafting, space planning, furniture design, plumbing and electrical fixtures and switches, architecture etcetera. Hence, interior designers are also interior decorators but not the other way round.

The room shouldn’t look too cluttered and not too bare as well.. That’s the balance need to be maintained by an interior designer. Great post !
